| “Come on in and lets
start making and breaking stuff.” |
-- Michael Carrino |
Michael Carrino has been charged
with providing his company, LogicAssistance, the expertise and
capabilities for doing Digital Media Casting (or DigiCasting for short). The
more he researched the topic, the more answers he found, but for every answer
he found, there were at least two more questions that needed to be answered.
Sound familiar?
Armed with enough knowledge to be dangerous, Carrino hosts the Digital Media
Cast Experiment audio DigiCast (or “PodCast” for all you Adam Curry fans) which
is an open discussion for people who are interested in producing, hosting or
just learning about the different aspects of the Digital Media Casting
environment. He also welcomes – no, make that, STRONGLY HOPES FOR – people who
do know more than he does to participate in the experiment, too.
“We can be contacted by e-mail, or message board. I encourage people to ask
questions and give answers – especially give answers. I don’t know all of this
stuff and so far I don’t know of anyone who does”, says Carrino, “But, if we
all work together, we can all move toward getting the job done right.”
With the advent of Pod Casting, delivery of digital media for informational and
entertainment purposes has grown and will most likely grow a lot more before
leveling off. Today it’s audio media casts using RSS feeds (also know as Pod
Casting) but just about all of the conventional media, not just radio, will be
able to be digitally place on a user’s desktop or in his/her personal media
device.
“This media casting has it’s own set of challenges, personalities and quirks
along with a long, long history from its ancestors, the conventional media, of
issues that either need to be grand fathered in or evolved out. We’ll be
sorting it out for the next few years but the faster we get to it, the sooner
we can thoroughly enjoy it.”, says Carrino. “So let’s get back to the lab and
see what this baby can do!”
Carrino has been a computer consultant, programmer/developer with
LogicAssistance Ltd. for the past two decades. His consulting has lead him to
working with advertising and media customers as well as government and general
business. He also has experience with radio.
“I have a lot of friends and associates who could help me out by making some of
the elements of the show or letting me use their expensive professional
equipment. I’m going to shy away from their offers, for now. What are we going
to learn if we don’t struggle through this stuff ourselves.”
